For the second year, New York University will be is holding its month-long CampGame: Intensive Video Game Creation summer camp. CampGame will be taking place from July 5 to August 5 this year and will include a number of the video game industry's most important creative forces (last year, guests included Josh Needleman, the lead game designer for Rockstar, among others.) Activision has released Call of Duty: Deluxe Edition to retail stores today. The game includes the original Call of Duty: Game of the Year Edition, expansion pack, Call of DUty: United Offensive, along with the game's soundtrack and strategy guide.
Call of Duty: Deluxe edition for the PC is rated “T” (Teen – Blood, Mild Language, Violence – content suitable for persons ages 13 and older) by the ESRB and carries a suggested retail price of $39.99.

VU Games announced this morning that the fourth installment in the SWAT series would be shipping today to retailers. The game, developed by Irrational Games, allows you to control a squal of up to five officers as they clean up some sticky situations.

EA is at it again. After nearly half a dozen expansion packs for The Sims, the second one is already in development for the game's sequel, The Sims 2.

Matrix Games announced today that they will be bringing Crown of Glory to gamers around the world. The Napoleonic-era strategy game will allow games to change history nearly two hundred years after the start of the Napoleonic Wars. The game is developed by Western Civilization Software.

NCSoft has launched the newest chapter in the long running online game Lineage. Dark Conquest, Episode 3: Life and Death launches today on North American servers. This episode continues the story of the Lastabad Dark Elf army, introducing the group’s headquarters in the Diad Fortress. The fortress is located in the underground region of Lineage’s fictional world of Aden.
Now, players can challenge the Lastabad in a pledge war and lay siege to their fortress. To win, players must best Baranka and Laia, two new and extremely dangerous boss monsters introduced in this episode.
Lineage is currently available via free download at http://www.lineage.com or players can request a free CD via U.S. mail from NCsoft. Lineage comes with a 7-day free trial period. After that, a subscription of US$15 per month is required to continue playing. Customers can save money by purchasing four months in a single transaction at a rate of US$11.25 per month.

Activision has shipped two launch titles for the midnight launch of the PlayStation Portable (PSP) tonight. The two games, Tony Hawk's Underground 2 Remix and Spider-Man 2, should be available with the console tonight or tomorrow morning, depending on when you pick up your console.
Tony Hawk’s Underground 2 Remix, was developed by Shaba Games and is rated “T” (Teen – with blood, crude humor, language, suggestive themes, use of alcohol and violence). Spider-Man 2 the game was developed by Vicarious Visions and is rated “T” (Teen - with violence). The suggested retail price of both titles is $49.99.

VIDEO GAMERS LEAGUE OPENS REGISTRATION FOR NATIONAL GAMING TOURNAMENT OVER $20,000 CASH AND A 2005 SCION xB TO BE AWARDED.
Dallas, Texas - March 21, 2005 - VGL, (Video Gamers League), the first organization to advance console gaming competitions to the level of a professional sport, announced today that they have opened registration for the first season of competition in the National VGL Video Gaming Tournament, the largest-ever console game tournament. Players can register to compete in official (qualifying) tournaments at the VGL website, www.vgleague.com. Halo 2 is the official game for the first season, which will include 112 tournaments that will take place in Scion dealerships across the nation.
The VGL will offer both team and FFA (free for all) tournaments. The FFA tournaments are free to enter. Official winners will advance to one of six regional tournaments, which will take place in New York, Los Angeles, Dallas, Orlando, San Francisco, and Chicago. Winners of the regional tournaments will advance to the national championship, where top finishers will receive cash and prizes and the grand champion will drive away with a 2005 Scion xB. All tournament participants will receive Scion merchandise, including beanies, CD's, and backpacks.
The National VGL Video Gaming Tournament is made up of two tournament seasons. It is produced and managed by VGL of Dallas, TX and Turn-Key Marketing Services, Inc. of Orlando, FL. Scion, a top-level sponsor, will host the official Halo 2 tournaments for the first season and will determine the official game for the second season in the near future.

In August 2005, QuakeCon, the largest video game festival and tournament in North America, will celebrate a decade of "peace, love, and rockets" with an event that promises video game fans the greatest four days of gaming and entertainment. The 10th Annual QuakeCon will once again draw thousands of people from around world to the Gaylord Texan Resort & Convention Center in Grapevine, Texas, from Aug. 11-14, and is open to video game fans worldwide free of charge.
First-come, first-served online registration for QuakeCon 2005 will begin at 9 p.m. EST on Friday, April 15, 2005, at www.quakecon.org.

Perpetual Entertainment has announced their latest MMORPG, Gods and Heroes for the PC, which will launch later this year. Here's a summary of the game from the press release:
In Gods and Heroes, players become classic heroes of the ancient world, born of immortal blood. As a scion of the gods, each player will have the opportunity to pursue his destiny through a series of Epic Quests that will span all levels of gameplay, over time commanding amazing God Powers and acquiring famous weapons and treasure of myth.
The game will be set in Rome around 300 BC, a time when the Republic is powerful, but Roman enemies including the Carthaginians, Gauls, and Samnites threaten the fledgling imperial holdings. Worse, the land is beset by terrible creatures, such as Gorgons, Cyclopes, and Furies. As heroes of Rome, players will take on missions to expand and protect the Republic, her interests, and her citizens, and will serve one of the twelve great Roman gods. Nintendo's Satoru Iwata's keynote speech at the Game Developer's Conference this week has shed some light on the company's upcoming plans for the Nintendo DS and Revolution.
First up, a free wi-fi network, capable of being connected to at any hotspot, has been announced for the Nintendo DS, allowing 8-player games such as Mario Kart to be played across the country. The service will be free of charge and developers will have development kits by E3 in May.
The big news of the day was concerning Revolution with Iwata announced will be backwards compatible with the GameCube. The system's CPU (developed by IBM) and graphics chip (developed by ATI) are on schedule and Nintendo hopes to have prelim development kits out soon to developers.
Also, for those of you still bragging about Xbox Live, Nintendo announced that the Revolution will have built in wi-fi capabilities (similar to the DS).
Also a new Legend of Zelda trailer has been released with amazing new footage of the game in action, a Q4 release is still planned.

Today Microsoft Game Studios announced the release of Fable for the PC. Entitled Fable: The Lost Chapters, the game is currently in development at Lionhead Studios for a fall release. Microsoft promises "...expanded content, greater customization, new quests and enhanced graphics," so we'll see how that works out later this year.
For all of us that missed the hype on Xbox, you'll soon have a new chance to discover what Fable was all about.

"Cold Fear plays very much like other survival horror games, such as Resident Evil and draws heavily on the genre for inspiration. The controls are pretty responsive and Tom has a variety of actions he can do, but this really is more of an action game than about solving puzzles ala Resident Evil."

EA announced that the company has shipped the long awaited first expansion pack for The Sims 2 entitled, University. The game will carry a "T" for Teen rating and is available today. No MSRP was mentioned in EA's press release.
The Sims 2 University will introduce a new young-adult stage of life, 4 new career paths, new influence gameplay and over 125 new objects.
The Sims 2 University allows players to explore a whole new stage of life as young adults and introduces college-related wants and fears that are ultimately tied to their Sims’ social life and academic goals. Join a secret society, pledge a sorority or fraternity, or even join a band and see if your Sims will become the big Sim on campus. The Sims 2 University also introduces influence gameplay allowing players to earn influence points to have other Sims do certain tasks for them such as homework, term papers, cleaning up the fraternity house or even pulling pranks on other Sims. Players will be able to choose from one of 11 majors and open up 4 new career paths while exploring new campus locations such as college lounges, pool halls, gyms and coffee houses.

Sony Online Entertainment announced yesterday that the first Adventure Pack for the popular MMORPG, EverQuest II, will be released on March 21 for $4.99. Players will need a current subscription to EverQuest II to purchase and play the Adventure Pack.
Players who pre-order The Bloodline Chronicles will be granted early access to a special area, known as the D’Morte Burial Chambers. Pre-order customers can be among the first to discover the items inside, uncovering and unlocking mysteries contained within this exciting Adventure Pack.
The Bloodline Chronicles takes you deep into the mysterious caverns beneath Nektulos Forest to investigate the source of strange happenings in the land of Norrath. Battle the denizens of the underworld to discover the dark secrets of the Tombs of Night – and enter, if you dare, the Crypt of T’Haen to confront the legendary lost lord of the undead. Content in The Bloodline Chronicles is geared towards level 30-45 players, however all players will be given access to one zone, The Tombs of Night, whether or not they choose to purchase the Adventure Pack.
