[Multi] David Duchovny Signs for Voiceover Lead Role in XIII - posted by Erich Becker at 2:20 pm CDT

Duchovny Takes On Role of Secret Agent with Complete Amnesia

SAN FRANCISCO, CA - July 14, 2003 - Ubi Soft Entertainment, one of the world's top game publishers, rounded out its AAA cast of voice talent for its highly anticipated action-shooter, XIII, by signing David Duchovny as its title character. XIII is an epic, conspiracy-driven thriller set in a highly stylized graphic-novel world and is scheduled to release on all game consoles as well as the PC, in Fall 2003.

"XIII isn't like any videogame I have ever seen - it plays like a suspenseful movie with a conspiracy-ridden storyline filled with enough twists and turns to keep everyone guessing," said Duchovny. "Players are in for a lot of surprises with this game - things are never what they seem, making for good drama and a great game."

XIII is a stylish, first-person shooter thriller featuring a conspiracy of epic proportions. David Duchovny takes on the role of XIII, a secret agent with complete amnesia who must discover clues behind his true identity. Avoiding pursuit by the FBI, who accuse him of assassinating the president, and a mysterious group called the Twenty are just two of XIII's challenges; he must also uncover sinister plots against the U.S. government from its highest offices. Duchovny joins actress/musician Eve, starring as Major Jones, and Adam West, as General Carrington, in the cast.

No stranger to the themes of government conspiracy, Duchovny starred in the hit television series about government cover-ups and conspiracy theories, The X-Files. Duchovny won a Golden Globe award for Best Actor in a Drama Series for his work on The X-Files. He also appeared in many hit motion pictures, including EVOLUTION, Return to Me, and Zoolander. [Multi] Adam West Lends Voice to Ubi Soft's XIII - posted by Erich Becker at 2:18 pm CDT

The Classic Batman Assumes New Cartoon Role as General Carrington

SAN FRANCISCO, CA - July 14, 2003 - Ubi Soft Entertainment, one of the world's top game publishers, added to its AAA cast of voice talent for its highly anticipated action-shooter, XIII, by signing Adam West as General Carrington. West joins actress/musician Eve, starring as Major Jones, and David Duchonvy, as XIII, in the cast. XIII is an epic, conspiracy-driven thriller set in a highly stylized graphic-novel world and is scheduled to release on all game consoles as well as the PC, in Fall 2003.

"XIII's visual style is extremely eye-catching," said West. "The game's comic text and pop-up windows are similar to elements we used with the Batman series to stay true to the comic. In XIII, it builds this graphic-novel world to the last detail."

XIII features a unique visual style utilizing cel-shaded graphics to showcase the game's comic roots. Based on a popular graphic novel, XIII employs various comic elements, including pop-up windows and cartoon text to make the graphic-novel world come to life. Adam West, who played one of the cartoon world's famed heroes, Batman, plays the role of General Carrington - a hard-nosed military general leading an independent inquiry into the presidential assassination. Carrington is the only one who can help XIII find out his real identity and the truth behind who killed the president.

West is famous for his portrayal as the caped crusader in the hit 60s television series Batman, and has starred and appeared in more than 50 motion picture, television, and stage projects throughout his career. He has also lent his voice talents to several animated characters for well-known shows including The Rugrats, Family Guy, Batman, and Johnny Bravo. West also authored two books, Back to the Batcave and Climbing the Walls, and starred and served as creative consultant for the recent CBS Movie of the Week, Return to the Batcave: The Misadventures of Adam & Burt. In July, West will host a series called Achieving the Glow on G4®, the ComCast-owned TV network all about videogames and the gamer lifestyle.

[PC] iEntertainment Network Launches Dawn of Aces III - posted by Erich Becker at 7:21 am CDT

iEntertainment Network Launches Dawn of Aces III!

Combat flying of World War I

CARY, N.C., July 10, 2003, -- iEntertainment Network (IENT), the award-winning developer of the popular WarBirds TotalSim series, announced today the launch of Dawn of Aces III, a major new addition to the award winning TotalSims series of products. The new release, Dawn of Aces III, includes a new World War I terrain, 7 new airplanes, and new flight models designed to perfectly match the flying characteristics of World War I aircraft.

Dawn of Aces III is a new product that continues the tradition of World War I flying started by the award winning Dawn of Aces II, which was originally launched by IENT in 1998.

A little more than a decade after the Wright brothers' historic flight at Kittyhawk, the demands of war transformed the airplane into a weapon of death. Made of wood, canvas and wire, these early fighters took to the air filled with gasoline, ammunition and the likelihood that too steep a dive would rip the wings to shreds.

With Dawn of Aces III, the player can climb into the cockpit of a WWI Biplane to patrol the skies and engage the enemy in ferocious close quarter dogfights. The player can become a hero just like Baron von Richthofen, Captain Rickenbacker, Bishop, Guynemer, Mannock, and Ball, some of the greatest aviators of World War I.

Dawn of Aces III is the online game that will be the basis for IENT's new retail game about World War I flying. The new game will be called SkyKnights and will be released in the fall of 2003.

The new retail game will include over 30 single player missions from Training, Instant Action, and Campaign missions starting with Bloody April in 1917. The new game will include a brand new interface, four difficulty levels from Arcade to Simulation, so players can start easy and learn to be a real fighter pilot, a new reward and role playing system that allows the player to progress from Lieutenant to General and win all the awards an aviator can earn including the Medal of Honor. SkyKnights will also include a mission builder so players can continue to design and fly their own missions, and trade them with other players.

When the player wants to come online, he can join IENT's massively multiplayer online game service to participate in online battles with hundreds of players from all over the world.

Dawn of Aces III can be downloaded for Free from www.TotalSims.com. Everyone gets two weeks Free to fly and try the game.

[Classic] Donkey Kong World Record Smashed - posted by Erich Becker at 1:57 pm CDT

Donkey World Record Smashed

The world record for one of history's most revered classic arcade games has fallen.

Steve Wiebe of Redmond, Washington, has scored 947,200 points on Donkey Kong, leaving in the dust noted rivals like the legendary Billy Mitchell and Timothy Sczerby of Auburn, NY.

"The feat was recorded on videotape so future generations can see how it was done," explains Walter Day, Chief Editor of the forthcoming edition of Twin Galaxies' Official Video Game & Pinball Book of World Records.

Wiebe is not a newcomer to video game royalty: last year he became the first player in Twin Galaxies' 23-year-history to pass the one million-point barrier on Donkey Kong Junior.

"Donkey Kong was one of the top three most hotly contested titles in arcade history, the other two being Pac-Man and Ms. Pac-Man," says Robert Mruczek, Chief Referee for Twin Galaxies.
Mruczek was the Twin Galaxies employee who viewed Wiebe's 2-hour long videotape in order to verify the legitimacy of the claim to the Donkey Kong title.

An extensive analysis of Wiebe's accomplishment, including many scoring milestones, has been prepared by Robert Mruczek and can be found at: http://www.twingalaxies.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=1253

"The gameplay of Silent Hill 3 is typical of any other survival horror title, you solve the puzzles and beat the “bosses” to gain access to previously hidden or inaccessible areas and a storyline that culminates to the final explanatory scenario. Also anyone that has played either of the previous two Silent Hill titles will find some of the locations and buildings very familiar as some of the previous locations are revisited however their are also some new locations to explore such are the underground railway station which gives the game a new twist. But this incarnation is better, much, much better than it’s predecessors….. "
