"Imagine if you took the single player action of Devil May Cry 1 and 2 combined it with a healthy dose of the insanity from the Dynasty Warriors series, the result is a graphical action-fest that takes the player on a dark and sometimes frustrating journey into a twisted and macabre story. The whole game is played from a third person viewpoint with a rotating camera and bares some resemblance to the aforementioned adventures of Dante and crew, except where you fought alone in those games, here you have the Chaos Legion to call upon."

Using a visionary group of artists like Future Primitive Sound was a natural selection, and the soundtrack captures the mood and style of the game to perfection."

"We wanted to capture the essence of XIII in this soundtrack by showcasing its nostalgic style while giving the beats a modern twist. Our intention was to tell its story through the music and create a seamless headnodding mix that would complement the energy of XIII and get gamers hyped," said Mark Herlihy, founder of Future Primitive Sound. "As we enter the final stage of the game's development, we are excited to invite interested fans to assist us in improving and shaping the evolving world of Uru." said Rand Miller, founder and CEO Cyan Worlds, Inc.

Play testers are invited to become among the first to experience the deepest, and most compelling Myst storyline to date as they participate in a modern day exploration and restoration of the ancient D'ni civilization. Uru (pronounced Oo-roo) includes a compelling single-player offline adventure in addition to an expansive persistent online experience, Uru Live.

"Uru is a technological step forward for the Myst series enabling us to eclipse the beauty, grandeur, and mind-challenging elements of previous titles. Plus, with the option to join a constantly updated online universe, the adventure never has to end," said Rand Miller, founder of Cyan Worlds.

Uru is the latest chapter in the MYST series - one of the most widely recognized game brands in history, with more than 12 million units sold worldwide. Uru is scheduled to launch in November, 2003 at the manufacturer's suggested retail price of $49.99.

The story of the D'ni (pronounced dunny) civilization began when they established their underground empire on Earth some 10,000 years ago. The D'ni practiced a technology called the "Art of Writing" to create links to incredible alternate worlds of fantastic variety called "Ages," to which they could travel through "Linking Books." During that time, a group of D'ni traveled to the surface of what is now southern New Mexico, connecting our world and theirs.

The D'ni people thrived for thousands of years, but later met with a great catastrophe that ended their civilization. The vast underground cities of the D'ni were left uninhabited and their Linking Book technology seemed lost forever - until now.

Termite pulled under P3 umbrella

Dutch publisher Project Three Interactive today announced that its development studio Termite Games has changed its name to Project Three Interactive Studios AB and is now fully integrated in the Project Three Group.

The Swedish outfit became known for its revolutionary new game-engine known as DVA, which was used for the development of the tactical FPS game “NEW WORLD ORDER” for PC-CDROM, released during winter 2002/spring 2003. Termite kept updating the game and has concluded its work by delivering the very stable and smooth version 1.42 last month (on sale in the UK, France and Germany by the end of August – distributed by Bigben Interactive).

The DVA engine has been set up to be as generic, versatile and dynamic as possible. It has been designed in such a way that the base technologies - DVA, real time per-pixel lighting, shadowing, bump-mapping, advanced physics - are extendable and capable of handling the vast amounts of geometry and detail that the games of the future will rely on.

The newborn Project Three Interactive Studios will focus on expanding the DVA technology, so that it will function as a tech platform for next-gen shootergames that feature vast environments, extra options such as driving vehicles and - we feel most importantly - lots of freedom for the player in the gameworld. In the coming weeks Project Three will be announcing a new project based on DVA, while a spokesman said it is also planning to license the technology to independent developers.

[PC] Suricate Software Announces IncrediBubble - posted by Erich Becker at 1:18 pm CDT

A Game That Doesn’t Require Twitchy Fingers.
Suricate Software announces IncrediBubble, the first true 3D "Bust-A-Move" Game

Erkrath, Germany (August 13, 2003) - Today’s computer game market is a crowded field. Emerging from the mass of look-alikes is a new title that captures the essentials of compelling puzzle solving in a whole new way. Suricate Software’s IncrediBubble is set in an undersea environment where the player guides dolphins, sharks, sea horses, and other marine creatures through a brilliant underwater puzzle world.

The interface is designed to be accessible to new PC users and casual gamers alike and allows a player to get started right away. Your task is to link up at least three of the same color bubbles using Phlipper the dolphin and his aquatic friends. By linking up three or more of the same color the bubbles will burst and clear a part of the puzzle. IncrediBubble puzzles are designed to require tactical thought and action. Some missions are timed and require quick thinking to complete. Other missions give the player a limited supply of bubbles and cannot be solved unless the player uses his wits.

IncrediBubble is packed with a wide range of unforgivably addictive puzzles. Choose between seven distinct mission modes and 180 levels, including two-player games and training missions.

While IncrediBubble stands out for its addictive gameplay, it also wraps the player in a world of color and ambience. Unlike other "Bust-A-Move" style games, IncrediBubble is true 3D and boasts rich, vibrant graphics and a soothing soundtrack. 3D means more than simply eye candy-the full range of motion afforded by IncrediBubble lets the player glide and maneuver smoothly, enhancing the action. After just a few games, the urge to beat the next level takes over and another player is hooked.
