Yeah baby!

Sorry, I couldn't help myself. I've wanted to do that from the time I saw the commercial for the first Austin Powers movie.

Anyway...

The psychedelic graphics from the Austin Powers Operation: Trivia game are hip and retro. The musical score is jumping. And of course, the ongoing battle between Austin Powers and nemesis Dr.Evil is intriguing. But where are Austin’s shagadelic babes? Where are the wacky antics that have made him the fab swinger that he is? What happened to the wacky Volkswagen time machine? The lava lamps? Shag carpets? Nowhere to be found.

Don't get me wrong.

I like this game. It's lighthearted, fun and has some pretty snappy animation and visuals. However, I was expecting the game to contain more characters from the movie and a little more oomph. Zing. The very things that make Austin one of our favorite pop culture icons.

The player or players of this game are led through a series of assorted multiple-choice questions on a variety of topics relevant to modern culture. Answer correctly and win a million dollars or more. Get it wrong and lose the cash. Hopefully, if the player is lucky, they'll earn the correct amount of money to win the game. If not they'll be verbally berated by the host. But in a most kind, polite, non-patronizing way.

In a nutshell: It's fun and it's festive, but it's a little too much like all the other Berkeley trivia games.
